From time to time we still find ourselves in a position where we need to send a document to somebody that will only accept the document via fax.  There are plenty of fax to email solutions for receiving those once in a blue moon faxes but what do we do when we find ourselves in an unavoidable position of needing to send a fax?  There are several fax websites that allow you to send the odd fax free of charge.  Below is a list of a few:

mbox
Mbox is a bidirectional fax service that allows you to send faxes via your email.  It comes with a 30 day free trial and after that costs $9.95 a month.  You can send 20 faxes a month and receive 130 pages per month straight to your email.  You can fax a variety of file attachments including word, excel, pdf and jpg files.  It also comes with unlimited fax storage.  With email based faxing you can even send faxes from mobile devices.

myFax
This service allows you to send 2 faxes a day for free.  You can type your message directly into the webpage itself or attach your message as a file attachment.  There is a paid service available for people wanting to receive faxes this via service.  The paid service allows you to receive 200 pages and send 100 pages per month.  This service costs US$10 for the paid subscription and is a US based company.  24/7 support is available with this product.

utbox
Utbox is a 3, 6 or 12 month paid service.  Unlike some other services utbox charges to both send and receive.  They do include a month credit that allows you to send between 133 and 400 pages or receive three times that many faxes for month included in your monthly credit that you pay between $4.99 and $6.65 per month for.  Utbox allows you to port your existing fax number as well if you’re replacing an existing fax solution.

GoFax
GoFax offers a flexible solution of buying fax credits and using them as you need them.  Credits do not expire and you don’t pay for faxes that aren’t successfully received.  With no monthly fee this is an attractive option for people who have only the occasional use for sending a fax.  Credit packages cost between $15 and $1500 for 100 to 18500 credits.  Sending faxes costs 1 credit as a flag fall and 1 credit per page, or 2 credits per page for 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers.  Faxes can be send from desktop software, email or online portal.
