The Growing Security Threat
The cybersecurity threat is very real. This does not mean we all have to panic – but we need to be serious, comprehensive, and exhaustive in security awareness and threat prevention.
Here’s what we’re dealing with at the moment:
- High-risk email detection increased by 27% in 2024
- 87% of businesses have encountered an AI-driven cyber-attack
- Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks jumped by nearly 13% in the second half of 2024
- Ransomware attacks hit an all-time high in 2024
- The average data breach costs Australian businesses $4.26 million
- In total, cyber threats cost Australian industry $300 million a year

In response to growing threats, regulations are becoming more strict.
Stricter Regulations, Stricter Requirements
The government is well aware of these threats. In response, regulations are getting stricter – which means the requirements on business owners and directors are getting stricter too.
In 2024, the government passed the Cyber Security Act, the first standalone cybersecurity legislation in Australia’s legal history.
Building on this, the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act amendment will increase the responsibilities of business owners and directors, who must shore up their defences and report breaches.
In essence, business owners and directors now need to do more. Training is critical for all personnel, ensuring that businesses remain compliant and fostering a more resilient, more secure, and more effective defence against cyber criminals.
How Our Security Awareness Training Works
Our security awareness training is delivered in three parts.
These videos cover a specific area of cybersecurity awareness and defence, such as DDoS attacks, phishing emails, malware and ransomware incidents, AI-based attacks, malicious system entry, or other forms of threat.
Each video is 10 minutes long and is sent to your representative – usually a member of the management team. This representative then distributes the video to all relevant personnel.
This test assesses the knowledge gained from the video. With testing and examination, it’s much easier for your teams to absorb and understand the information presented to them. The test increases your organisation’s resilience to potential threats.
The test is delivered to your representative and then distributed among your team. It won’t take long to complete, but it will provide an important step forward in the fight against cybercrime.
Finally, we conduct a drill.
This basically means launching a simulated cyber-attack, which your team will need to deal with. It will relate directly to the material covered in parts 1 and 2, giving your personnel the chance to put their skills into action.
Practical training and assessment like this is key. Hands-on learning in a risk-free environment reinforces the skills your team needs to protect your business, your customers, and themselves.
